Sunglasses – An Essential Part of Your Everyday Life

Sunglasses or sunglasses are generally a simple type of protection designed mainly to keep the eyes from bright sunlight and other high-energy visible light, specifically from harming or discomforting the eyes from harmful UV rays and UVA rays. The eyewear is made of a plastic lens made of polycarbonate material and is designed to block the ultraviolet rays of the sun. To achieve a good level of blocking of ultraviolet rays, the eyewear must be made with high index lenses to increase its effectiveness as an effective shield against the sun’s radiation. It should have a high index of more than 200 to ensure its effectiveness. This specialized eyewear is often used by sportsmen who participate in outdoor activities to increase the level of protection they get from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

There are different types of sunglasses intended for different purposes.

There are designer shades for fashion and style, sport shades for protection during outdoor activities, and tints for vision correction during extreme conditions. Sunglasses are available in different shapes such as round, oval, and square, among other basic shapes. It is also available in a wide range of colors which include black, white, yellow-green, red, blue, gray, and brown. All these options make choosing a pair of sunglasses an interesting task especially when it comes to fashion and style.

There are four basic kinds of eyewear

intended to block UV rays or UVA rays. Among them are polarized sunglasses which are designed to negate the strong horizontal polarized light produced by the sun. It prevents the reflection of the sun’s rays and hence protects the eyes from being hurt by the UV rays. In addition, they reflect only the vertical and horizontal polarized light, thus enhancing the visual clarity considerably.

People who are suffering from macular degeneration

are advised to get a pair of protective glasses that have a high index of prisms to deflect UVA rays. Such people are usually the ones who spend a lot of time outdoors as they are at greater risk of getting hit by the sun’s rays. Some manufacturers offer silicone hydrogel lens that is claimed to help alleviate the symptoms of macular degeneration caused by prolonged exposure to the sun. These glasses contain silicon crystals which are responsible for filtering UVA rays and reducing the possibility of getting hurt by them. However, there are other factors such as excessive glare from surrounding buildings, traffic, and other sources of obstruction which could make sunglasses insufficient to provide complete protection.

Since the human eyes need a sufficient amount of oxygen

to function properly, sunglasses are very helpful in protecting from the harmful rays of sunlight. Oxygen is essential for the human eye and if an insufficient amount of oxygen is supplied to the eyes, one may experience several problems including pain, discomfort, blurred vision, and other vision impairments. A pair of prescription lenses or sunglasses which has an appropriate tint to filter out the sunlight is said to help protect the eyes against these harmful radiations. There are many brands and models of sunglasses which contains special lens which can effectively block the sunlight. The commonest among these is polarized sunglasses which have a special lens that filters out the UV rays and reflects only the sunlight which remains natural.

Sunglasses which has their lens coatings

are more popular because they are easier to handle and maintain than those that use the silicone hydrogel lens. This type of lenses have their lens coatings and are available in various lens types such as Hi-tech, Ledo, and Purevision. Most of these lenses are usually made up of Hi-tech which are coated with Hi-Eco glass. Ledo lens uses high-intensity discharge (HI-ED) to filter and absorb the sunlight entering the eyes through its special lens coatings. Purevision lens which is manufactured by Ray-Ban is an example of this type of lens coatings.
